On December 4, a workshop for children was organized in the frame of the LIFE PAVEtheWAySTE project.
On this occasion, students of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education had the opportunity to learn how to recycle the waste they produce at home and to know why it is so important everyone´s collaboration in the recycling tasks.

14 November 2016: The LIFE PAVEtheWAySTE project was presented as a good practice example of “Circular economy on waste management for islands” on 14.11.2016 at the International Conference “Circular Economy ‐ Territorial Cohesion – Islands”, at Heraklion, Crete (GR).

1 November 2016: The stakeholders’ consultation event for Naxos Municipality took at the Τeleconferencing Room of the NTUA Library. The identified interested stakeholders (i.e. recycling industries and waste management companies) were informed via email and phone for the organization of the event and the relevant agenda.

WORKSHOP FOR PUBLIC CONSULTATION WITH INTERESTED STAKEHOLDERS AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY OF ANCIENT OLYMPIA
16 July 2016: A workshop was held as a forum for public consultation on the integrated waste management strategies developed for the selected communities of Ancient Olympia, which consist target areas of the project. Invited stakeholders (waste management companies, industries for recycling materials) and local residents attended the workshop on the afternoon of Saturday 16/07/2016 in order to participate in the discussion on the sustainable management of waste, the valorization methods of recyclable materials contained in MSW and the multiple benefits resulting for the quality of life of residents and local markets.

ARTICLE DEDICATED TO THE PROJECT IN THE SPANISH MAGAZINE "EQUIPAMIENTO Y SERVICIOS MUNICIPALES"
30 June 2016: In the framework of LIFE PAVEtheWAySTE project implementation, an article, entitled "Peculiarities of urban waste management in remote areas" was published. The article was dedicated to the challenges faced by remote and island communities of Spain in the field of waste management.

Closing the loop: An EU action plan for the Circular Economy
13 January 2016: Last December 2015, the European Commission adopted an ambitious Circular Economy Package, which includes revised legislative proposals on waste to stimulate Europe's transition towards a circular economy which will boost global competitiveness, foster sustainable economic growth and generate new jobs.

Project Implementation areas
The proposed innovative technology which will be developed in the framework of the project will be implemented in two Greek remote areas, namely the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades Islands (Small Islands of Donousa, Schinousa, Iraklia, Koufonisia) and the Municipality of Ancient Olympia.
